Master Tour will automatically set up live flight tracking through FlightAware so that you can see the most up-to-date info on your flights.
This article covers how to:
Add Flight Leg(s)
To add a flight leg that is connected to live flight tracking, you will just need to add a new Travel Item in the Travel section of your Tour Date, by either clicking the Add buttons on the left or in the top right corner:
Then select the Air Travel option at the top of your Travel Item, and click the Add Flight button:
Clicking Add Flight will show you the Manage Flight dialog, where you can enter info about the Flight Leg you want to add:
After you've added one Flight Leg, you can always click the Add Flight button at the bottom of your Travel Item to add additional connecting flights to your Travel Item, or click the pencil icon to edit your existing Flight Leg and/or add new Flight Legs. You can also delete Flight Legs by clicking the trash icon, then confirming that you want to delete that Flight Leg:
For most Commercial flights, you'll just need to enter the Airline and Flight Number to pull in that flight's info from FlightAware. As soon as you type in an Airline and Flight Number, Master Tour will search FlightAware for matching flight numbers on your current Tour Date and the next day. You can then select the proper flight, and either click Done to save the Flight Leg, or click Add Flight Leg to add another Flight Leg.
If you can't find your Commercial flight or are offline, you can click the Manually Edit Flight dropdown to enter in your flight's info manually.
Once your Flight Leg is saved, Master Tour will periodically attempt to connect it with FlightAware tracking, in case tracking becomes available on that flight.
For Private flights, you can just select a Private Flight Type, then fill out the form with your flight info. Many Private flights are not fully tracked by FlightAware, unfortunately, but Master Tour will periodically attempt to connect your Private flight with flight tracking in case your flight does have flight tracking become available.
Track Flights
FlightAware begins tracking flight activity 48 hours before a flight is scheduled to take off, so that's when Master Tour will first link up your flight to FlightAware tracking. When Master Tour connects your flight to FlightAware tracking, you will see a Live Update icon appear on the Travel Item in both the Travel and Schedule sections of Master Tour:
As soon as your Flight Leg is connected to FlightAware tracking, any Start or End times you see will be adjusted as Master Tour receives updates from FlightAware. For instance, if you have a non-stop flight that gets delayed by an hour, your Travel Item's start and end time will be updated by FlightAware.
Most flights will start off with a Scheduled status, which will show the flight as it appears on your original flight booking:
If FlightAware sends a live update that makes your Estimated Departure Time or Estimated Arrival Time different from your Scheduled Departure Time or Scheduled Arrival Time, then both the Estimated and Scheduled times will appear. The Scheduled Times do not affect the length of your Travel Item at that point, and are there for your reference so that you can see the original times for your flight along with how late or early your flight is.
If your flight has been delayed, then you will see a Delayed status on your Flight Leg, and an alert at the top of the Travel Item saying that one of your Flight legs has been delayed:
If you have connecting Flight Legs in your Travel Item, and one Flight Leg has been delayed to the point that it is arriving after its connecting Flight Leg departs, then you will also see an alert notifying you that your travel itinerary has potentially been interrupted:
Similarly, if your flight has been Cancelled, you'll see a Cancelled status on that Flight Leg, and a cancellation alert at the top of your Travel Item:
All updated times and statuses will also show on the Web Portal at my.eventric.com and the Master Tour Mobile app:
Once a Flight Leg has started tracking updates from FlightAware, you can also click on the View On FlightAware button, which will link you to your particular flight's page on FlightAware:
